taulign'ANES

Up early this morning to go to Taulignan where you can take a donkey for a walk! Pierre has wanted to go for ages and we loved it! The donkey's name was Clovis and he dutifully carried our picnic and other bags for a really sunny randonnée in the countryside. We stopped off mid-morning for a coffee, and then found a wee clearing in the woods around lunchtime where we stopped and had wine, bread, ham, Camembert, and a few crisps.

We saw loads of thyme growing everywhere, plenty of wild flowers, honey farms, pottery ateliers, rosemary, cages belonging to a farm that were full of hunting dogs all going bonkers as we passed by, lavender fields, and hundreds of truffle oaks, growing in land cordoned off with electric cables and signs saying "No entry".

The wind blew quite strongly the whole time, so it was like a summer's day at home...not too hot, but just right. We've both come back with a good colour in our cheeks and we're knackered! What a joyful day :)

A few more pics here.
