Water Tower 2

Today been Sunday a trip to the stepdaughters .
Ont the journey we go through Bracebridge Heath a small village just out side Lincoln , it contains many happy memories and my Nanna & Granddad use to live there.
A landmark there is the water pumping station which I decided to stop and take a few shots of today .
A finely worked stone water pumping station and reservoir located on Grantham Road, known locally as 'The Water Tower' . This 'new' reservoir was an overflow for the main reservoir in Westgate water tower in Lincoln, and replaced an 'old' open reservoir on Bracebridge Heath on London Road, built in 1871 and closed in 1925.
It had been left water-filled from 1912 as an emergency supply in case of fire at the Asylum until a new water tower, connected to the mains was erected in 1925, from when it lay empty, until 1972.

Hope your all having a good weekend , Since arriving home I have enjoyed a relaxing evening watching the Hobbit and enjoying a few beers.
