Ha Ha

A 6m circular walk today took us along this ha ha through the Somerhill estate in Tonbridge. The ha ha was bult to keep deer and sheep out of the gardens but allowing them access to the park land at either end.

According to Wikipedia, the name "ha-ha" derives from the unexpected (i.e., amusing) moment of discovery when, on approach, the recessed wall suddenly becomes visible. Usually there is just one wall and a ditch but this ha ha has two walls.
