Starling Hotel

The householders have placed a plastic box below for mail while the starlings temporarily use the mail box for nesting. Or maybe the owners are actually waiting for a delivery of starlings. As indeed, will be the starlings. If any.
I went to South Ronaldsay and got off the bus at the south end of barrier no. 4, at Ayre of Cara, to see the white-billed diver that's been there for a while. It is also known as a yellow-billed diver, or yellow-billed loon. I wonder if it knows it's title keeps changing? I had nice views, whatever the name, then headed along the road to Honeysgeo and the track around Grim Ness then along the shore and The Grud to Kirkhouse and the road to St Margaret's Hope. Must do something about the tendonitis, though; it's a killer. Some more here.
