Wighton Scarecrow Festival

Beautiful bright sunlight when we woke up. As we had visitors over the weekend, I could have done with a lazy day at home but we were invited over for a barbecue with my cousins in West Norfolk. So of course we went.
It is a beautiful drive through the back lanes of north Norfolk; clear skies, the beech trees coming into leaf, everything fizzing and bursting forth with new growth. This is one of my favourite times of the year.
On the way home, we drove through the village of Wighton where they have had a Scarecrow Festival. It seemed as though pretty well everyone in the village had joined in. There were Geisha scarecrows with parasols, a Twitcher scarecrow looking over a hedge with binoculars, a wide range of local "good ol' Norfolk boy' scarecrows, a whole montage of scarecrows involved in officiating and competing in a sack race, scarecrows in suits, a scarecrow in pyjamas walking a dog, and this character, just taking off in a polka dot balloon.
