It's Been A Funny Old Day ...

... Arkwright used to say this at the end of each day in Open All Hours. Today started with a Centenary Service in Chelmsford Cathedral with HRH the Queen & Prince Philip in attendance and ended with a session with Bishop's Council, enthusing & encouraging them to engage in a listening project with children & young people. All good stuff.

Tonight, as I looked over the veggie plot I thought about the day I thought about meeting Cathy on the bus on the way home. A dear lady, mother of a young girl in a youth group I ran 20 years ago. Sadly, daughter died of Leukemia, aged 14. I took the funeral, a sad, sad time for all. Cathy dedicated the next 20 years of her life to helping people. Searching out those who needed a helping hand, talking, driving, cooking, cleaning, befriending, loving people who need it most. Quite a woman. The highlight of the day was definitely the chance meeting on the bus on the way home.

It's been a funny old day.
