Nana Vera's Bluebell Wood

I am grateful to have been invited today to a very special garden in Aughrim in the Wicklow Mountains. My host lost his wife to cancer three years ago. Both were keen gardeners and the love and care put into the two acre garden is self evident at every turn, at every glance and around every corner.

On Saturday week he will open his garden to the public for a fund raiser for cancer care in memory, in love and in respect for his late wife. A part of the garden is given over to bluebells and he has planted 15,000 to ensure a special show. And it is. We were mesmerized and upset by its beauty today and the reason for its existence even though it will be another seven days before they reach perfection.... just saying.
