Beaver Pool and Dam in the evening light

This stream runs in a valley just below our village. You can see the last house in the village at the top of the photo.
Beavers have been building up their dam over the last couple of years and the pool has grown deeper. As it grows deeper the stream finds another channel, bypassing the dam. The beaver then build a mini dam blocking that channel. They then make the main dam higher and repeat the process.
If left to their own devices they change large areas into wetlands but here in this agricultural land the farmers will only allow them to go so far.
