Clyde

This sculpture of a Clydesdale horse is a recent addition to our town and the joint work of a local resident artist and a local blacksmith. Clyde is life-size and made of corten steel (not sure what that is, but it's a rusty brown colour) and he is very cleverly designed to look three-dimensional, when he's not!

The Horse Fair, which has been re-instated as an annual event after a period in limbo, features several real Clydesdales and showcases their place in the history of the town, so this sculpture has a real relevance to the area.

It was funded by both the Council and a grant from a charity, with lots of volunteers involved in the project too, so reflects the strong community spirit that's been developing here in recent years.

Not on a par with the Kelpies, but not likely to cause any traffic accidents either!! He gets a thumbs up from me:-)
