Sightseeing

After last Saturday's last minute cancelled appointment with farrier Lothar, he called today to say he was back in Germany and we could do Rosie in the afternoon.

Loaded her up and drove the 15 minutes over to the stables. Lothar was in excellent form and gave a thumbs up to Rosie's hoof progress despite her losing a shoe a week after his last visit. Still not 100% on all four but getting there.

He updated us on his emergency visit to the UK last Saturday and showed us some very bloody and frankly sickening photos. He had been called to a shire horse in Uttoxeter belonging to some long standing friends for whom he has from time to time helped out when the vet gives up. As he spoke, one could see his eyes light up, thoroughly at home in what was for us an impossible situation. Needless to say, the horse was standing and walking after he had done his work. I hope he gets around to posting the photos as a "case history" on his web site.

Thanks as always Lothar for the excellent work on Rosie. You ought to have been the Blip today but on the way home, realising we didn't have much in the fridge, stopped off at the supermarket in Ottobeuren. While queing at the checkout, a couple with two small children asked Angie if they knew where a playground was. We are not experts in this field but knew of one so agreed to show them the way. Before we set off, the children wanted to have a look at Rosie. In the background a bride has just got out of a car and is seemingly on the way to the reception or given the time of day (16:36) perhaps she had just been rescued from a "Bride Kidnapping", often part of a wedding reception.

As can be seen from the photo, it was a miserable, cold day (+6°C). I suspect the children didn't spend much time on the swings but perhaps managed to get rid of some of the frustration they had and allowed the parents a bit of time for sightseeing of the Basilica. From the car registration they may have been from Hamburg but one of the larger car hire businesses have their fleet registered there.

At around 19:00, MrB came by bringing me a swarm of bees to hoefully increase my stock. Full details on the Bee journal. While we worked, Angie disappeared in to the sauna.....
