You can't keep a good lord down!

30' in the shade this p.m. but it was good to get out into the vineyards early morning where the poppies and other wild flowers were rampant on the verges and the grasses were full of snails. This Lords and Ladies plant had forced its way up like a phoenix from the ashes of a bonfire. Golden oriels are nesting in a tree behind the house but I have only managed to hear, not see, them. Bank Holiday here and lots of VE Day Parades going on this morning. The fruit and veg market was open - cherries, strawberries, melons, apricots, asparagus, artichokes galore - wonderful. Am just off on my second walk of the day with Max - we'll both get fit again together
