Sgwarnog: In the Field

Renewal

Spring has sprung on my One Tree; fresh bright greens showing up against the dull brown of last year's bracken. Perhaps not shown at its best through the fine rain of a dull day, but in some ways more typical of the moor for that.

This angle illustrates that although this is a solitary mature tree at one corner of the moor, many more saplings are developing now that sheep no longer graze here. We've yet to learn whether the moorland managers will tolerate this ecological succession, or whether they'll be for the chop (the trees that is, not the managers).

The new bracken seems a bit late this year, but I'm sure it will soon be swamping the side of the hill.
