Odd colour schemes

Odd colours schemes in this hotel are not confined to the rooms.

Despite being on the second floor, there is a sort of patio/courtyard with fake grass right outside my room, and a French window opening out onto it. I think they must have part filled in the courtyard in the past, perhaps to create the breakfast room which is on the first floor.
