Cranbook and the Union Mill

Today we were in the attractive market town of Cranbrook in the heart of Kent. We know the town very well because both our sons went to school here . It has a rather splendid still functioning windmill that we visited for the first time today. The windmill is built on a huge stone base to get it above the houses so it can catch the wind. It is white and I waited for ages and ages for a big enough gap in the clouds to get a close up shot against a blue sky. I gave up in the end and will return on a cloudless day. Instead you get a shot of the typical weatherboarded Kentish houses with the windmill peaking over the roofs.

I bought some flour that was milled yesterday - the 200th anniversary of the mill opening.
