Getting the sparkle back

Standing room only

I blipped this at St Abbs Head on the Berwickshire coast while on a bird watching expedition with my friend T. These birds are guillemots which I can say confidently as we revised the differences between guillemots and razorbills before setting out. But overall there were huge numbers of both types of birds and it was standing room only all over the place. We were left wondering how they were managing to nest. These look as if they are clinging onto the cliff face by their toenails - the one at the back seems on the verge of slipping off seawards. The lucky one is clearly the bird to the right of the main group who has a tiny ledge all of its own.

Much better seen large.
