PERES - CONTROVERSIAL INVITATION

The Norwegian government invited president Shimon Peres to visit Norway, and it has provoked many people, organisations and political parties. The main critics have been that one should not award Peres with dinner with our King Harald and talks with our prime minister, when it is most probably that the man will end up in international court because of war crimes and even today said to the Norwegian press that he regrets nothing.

The timing of the visit is the worse ever. Our government first said yes to meet Dalia Lama, but then said no because of pressure from Kina. Both Peres and Lama is Nobel peace price winners. One stands for non-violence, the other for illegal occupation, the illegal Wall, the illegal settlements, the siege of Gaza and endless human rights violations.

Just about 50 supportive people welcomed him when he arrived at the palace. Later on there where a demonstration in front of the parliament where many hundred participated. They came from organisations and political parties that represent half a million people. (Norway’s population is 5 million).
