Recognition

A day of meetings, a trip to Livingston to have routine discussions with West Lothian College about training of Panel members, another meeting about IT then a train journey to Dumbarton.

The event there was a great affirmation of the system I am involved with. West Dunbartonshire Council was maintaining its support for the volunteers who sit on children's hearings to reach decisions on Scotland's most vulnerable children. They hosted an event for those who have just completed pre-service training. They were recognised with these certificates as were those who had served for 3 years, 10 years, 15 and a couple who had served 20 years. There was even someone there I remember well from years back who is entering his 35 th year as a panel member.

It is this commitment to help support children and families that drives the system and ensures it is grounded in communities. A great end to a long day.
