Moving Into The Unknown

Kevin

Kevin had a quizzical look when I first said hello. Like he was waiting for something other than a hello - like a "gotcha" perhaps. We talked and he opened up. He doesn't trust many people. Kevin has lived on the streets more than 4 years now and he told me that "People aren't real nice to me, mostly because of how I look." He makes between 4 to 5 dollars each day collecting cans and doesn't talk to many other folks. As I extended my hand to shake his, Kevin looked at his own black dirt hand as if unsure of himself. We shook. He stood in silence for a moment before saying thank you.

Thank you, Kevin - for the conversation and for reminding me that we all need acknowledgment.
