Jefferson Island, Louisiana

This was a rather grand historic monument house, almost on the Gulf of Mexico, built by Joseph Jefferson. We had gone to see the birds, and there is a very impressive rookery with 12 species of nesting birds, including roseate spoonbill, white ibis, and great white egret. It was quite a show.
