Gift # 15 - Tulips

It's hard to believe these are tulips, but they are! Just as described in the poem "Death of Flowers" by E. J. Scovell - (see my blip for Thurs 3 April)

"I would choose the tulip's reckless way of going;
whose petals answer light, altering by fractions
From closed to wide, from one through many perfections,
Til wrecked, flamboyant, strayed beyond recall,
Like flakes of fire they piecemeal fall."

Here they are, "strayed beyond recall" - they don't even look like tulips anymore!
Beside the vase is the book of poems that my sister and I used during Lent, and I noticed how the picture on the front cover is also of tulips opened wide like mine here.
