Big Log

No it's not a reclining baby elephant, it's all that's left of a huge oak tree in a field near our house, which blew down in a gale about a year ago. It was hundreds of years old. It's sad to see it go. Generations of children have climbed in its branches, including ours and they were amazed to see it down.
It's in a hedgerow and is not being particularly claimed by any of the local farmers. It has been suggested that it be carved into a seat or something
My own opinion is that it should just be left where it is to provide a shelter for all sorts of insects etc.
It must weigh tons and will take a while to rot away yet. So in a sense it's still surviving.
