The Edge of the Wold

Dandies was a celebration of the beauty of the dandelion flower. This is the much more blipped stage in the life history of the inflorescence. The architectural detail of the delicate parachuted seeds always astonishes me. Not just the silky chutes, but the textured, spiky seeds. Are those little spikes meant to act like tiny anchors as the parachute and its cargo touch down? To give purchase on the new soil where it lands?

I'm blipping this within half an hour of doing last night's blip meet back blip. Please have a look at that if you have time.
