I thought the entire reception would take place in the tenty greenhouse bit at the top, so was quite surprised when the majority of the after-speech post-cake-cutting noisy dancing-band bit turned out to be in a vast conference room somewhere beneath, probably on the ground level, judging by the presence of blocked-off archery-slit windows. Definitely the best food and speeches of any wedding reception I've attended. The band were augmented by some of the guests when it came to the ethnic dance-calling, which had required some frantic Googling slightly earlier to get some printouts for Nicky to revise from and the discovery that there are many forms of dance notation which are not immediately comprehensible to the untrained eye. Many years ago four of Nicky's associates got married within a few weeks of each other, but my knowledge of which ceilidh dance is which has decreased steadily ever since.
