Washington DC

We passed the Washington Memorial and Capitol Hill, but couldn't see the White House, before stopping briefly at the station to replace the diesel trains with an electric one. Finally arrived in New York after a 31 hour journey, just 10 minutes late. The journey in the South was slow with frequent bends and climbs and waits for freight which has priority, but it picked up speed later. We had gone aboard with food and drink for the journey, only to be told that this was all a part of the ticket for those with a sleeping car. Will have to throw our bagels with cream cheese away. I have a feeling that better ones await in New York.
