Great Balls of Fire

Having already missed out on the Edinburgh torchlight parade due to nursing two very bad colds, we wrapped up warm to check out the 'magical fire installations' put on by the internationally renowned street artists Carabosse as part of the 'Night Afore Light Night' in the Capital's Hogmanay celebrations. It all looked very pretty and impressive, but despite having performed worldwide for several years, the organisers didn't seem to have factored in the infamous Edinburgh wind. Apparently, shortly after we left the wind spiked which, combined with a heavy hail shower, caused the installations to sputter and spit and send sparks flying all over the place.
