Flowers Forever

A good day in Glasgow, a productive meeting, lunch with a dear friend and met a lovely stranger on the train back.

An excellent client - such a boost.

And then this sad note. There's a gap site nearby that's been siting empty, growing weeds for years and years. This year a group of locals decided to use the site to plant a community garden and invited everyone to join them. As the weather has warmed up, the group were making real progress by building raised beds for planting and even built a pizza oven. It was really taking shape and so heartwarming to see this bit of our neighbourhood being cared for and loved.

Today bulldozers came and wrecked the whole site. Evidently the new owner didn't contact anyone and just cleared the place, plants and all.

People have been shocked and saddened. One of the group made this RIP notice.

And then a lovely thing happened. People decided that if they couldn't have flowers, they would draw them in chalk and keep drawing them so they bloom all summer. These will be flowers no bulldozer will dare touch.

I love this neighbourhood.
