Ruffed Grouse (female)

This Ruffed Grouse (Bonasa umbellus) has reportedly adopted the Rail Trail at Station Road as its home for over a week, often approaching passersby--even aggressively. This was the first time we had seen it, and it made a very docile approach. Here it was on a fallen trunk (barely evident at the lower right), and seemed to have just yawned.

Not too much else to report. Marylee again saw the Northern Waterthrush (a relatively uncommon species of warbler) which has been around (I initially neglected to mention it yesterday).
