Orphan Annie - adopt an animal (PLEASE READ)

Through all 10 cats I have had over the years every single one of them has been a stray. Annie was an orphaned kitten who lived on the streets for the first year of her life. She was found asleep in a plastic bag with a collar on that had cut into her skin as she grew. She was timid and terrified of other animals. She was taken to a cattery on my round and after escaping, found herself in my front lawn. After inticing her with food and the all clear from the cattery she became part of the family. Now 10 years later she is as fit as a fiddle (even having a little disagreement with a horse and unsurprisingly a broken hip bone from a kick from it), she loves prowling the garden, sunbathing on the hammock and although she still doesn't like other cats she occasionally plays with out other before becoming fed up and having a boxing match with him.

I am a firm believer of adopting animals. It changes there lives when they leave the lonely and boring confinement of a shelter or the rspca and into a loving home. It is SO important that you thoroughly think through getting a pet in your life before doing so, no matter what it is. Animals can be more loyal (yes, even cats... sometimes) caring and trusting than people but they all deserve to be cared for and treated well. If you do not have the time, money or space for an animal, don't get one just because they're 'cute' or you want one on a whim, that isn't fair to them. However if you do feel like its a good time to add another family member to the household then please please adopt, you will not regret it and seeing the change to the animal you have will make it so rewarding!
