Tent Caterpillar Land

Looking through part of a caterpillar tent on the branch of a tree. On top of this rather large tent and out of sight here were its former residents, all in a writhing lump that otherwise remained stationary, with a few in the mass lifting their bodies straight skyward as if to sniff out their surroundings, then back down again. I had taken a short break to stretch my legs and spied this a block or so up the hill from the house. A far cry from the gilted bee of yesterday, which I thank you all for viewing!
