Old fashioned Iris

‘Jacquesiana’ is an old-fashioned German iris was given to be me by an older gardening friend decades ago. It came from her mother’s garden. I love the profuse blooms, the long stems, the beauty of the coloring and the gift of this iris.

Hybridized in 1839 by Jean-Nicolar Lemon, it is named in honour of Henri Antoine Jacques, a famous French gardener. The plant was brought to North American by the 1860’s and can still be found in historic gardens and as a shared plant from old gardens.
