Anticipation ...... roll on October!

All my dogs - but particularly Sophie - love it when our nearest field has sugar beet!
Firstly, from this stage, unlike the wheat or barley, beet plants are sufficiently robust that they are not damaged if the dogs run onto the field - so they can go off the leads without being constantly called back onto the drove.
Secondly, it tastes good (apparently)! They will all eat it, but it is Sophie who actually goes into the field, selects one, pulls it up and carries it back onto the drove - to be mugged by the others who all want a bit!
