In other news, after much bureaucratic torture by form-filling and triplicate-stamping, I now have an up-to-date fiscal number. This is needed to apply to pay social security in another office on another day, after which I can jump through more hoops in yet another government office in order to get a Documento Nacional de Identidad (DNI). It's even more complicated than applying for permission to purchase gas bottles for the heater/BBQ.
