Reservoir Birds

I had a great blipmeet today with Freuchie, even if it didn't all go to plan:-) We had hoped to meet at the Amulree Tearoom, but found it locked and barred and deserted when we arrived. Do hope they haven't gone out of business, as it was a delightful place with great food.

Instead we had lunch at the Red Squirrel café in Crieff, which, fortunately, is also a delightful place with great food! I then drove her up to the Loch Turret Reservoir, passing the home of the Famous Grouse whisky en route. The water from the reservoir is used to make the Glenturret Single Malt and the Famous Grouse.

We had hoped to see the herd of Highland Cattle which roam the area near the reservoir, but they had obviously been moved and there were only sheep and lovely lambs on the hills. There were a few birds on or near the water, including this gorgeous oystercatcher (one of a pair) and this pretty gull, who decided to settle down for a wee rest. Couldn't choose between them, so I give you both!

Many thanks for a lovely afternoon Freuchie and I'll look forward to the next blipmeet:-)
