Rosebud Azalea

There are two Azaleas named Rosebud--both are pink. One, from the Kurume group, was hybridized by Chisholm in 1934 and looks as though they are miniature pale pink rosebuds scattered around the bush. The other, known as the “Gable hybrid” by Joseph Gable in 1938 is a solid mass of pink flowers. We have both in the garden and they each have their charms. One for the delicacy of the tiny buds and “hose-in-hose” flowers and this one for the sheer wanton display of flowers with barely a leaf showing. This plant gets dappled afternoon sun and is about 3 feet by 3 feet of total pink exuberance right now.
