Broken Well cover and missing pump

This is a common sight all over Malawi and in fact all over Africa or so I am told.
Well meaning people install a pump and forget that most pumps are high maintenance, but have no maintenance plan.
Then, sometimes after even a short period, like a few months, the pump breaks down.
Requests made to the installers go unanswered and eventually the pump is removed and the well is deserted.
In this case, the cement was "spared" and the cover has broken.
Here Steven and Alfred will remove the concrete and help the villagers to make a new slab. They will check the well, which may need to be cleaned.
Finally they will install a new pump, which can be maintained by village WOMEN!
