With beak agape

No chance of photographing the sunrise today, as it was heavy cloud and persistent drizzle at the time. I chose to have a slower start to the day, and then took a midday run to Coxs Bay. Getting there meant running along the boardwalk beside Cox's Creek.

Having seen a couple of kotare (kingfishers) in this dead tree before, I looked as I ran along. There by itself, this kotare showed itself off to me for long enough to get this photo and a couple of others almost as good.
