Local pursuits

Today was our free day. Some had gone off on the train to visit the villages we wouldn't be walking to while we decided to explore Sestri Levante. We visited the market in the morning, had a lovely lunch in a local restaurant and walked along the beach.

These men were having a game of what appeared to be the French game of La Boule, but I was told it wasn't quite the same. It seemed to be quite serious; the person holding the flimsy stick made the decisions. In the background you can see two games of cards going on. All very relaxing, just what I needed on my day off.

Being Italy there were numerous ice cream shops. I finished the afternoon off with a liquorice flavoured gelato - delicious
