Salzburg

Today we made a two hour coach journey to visit the beautiful city of Salzburg, the home of Mozart, and the film location of 'The Sound of Music'. It is a long time since I have been here and it is nice to be here again.

The weather is very hot, hats required; first we had coffee in a pavement cafe, then we booked an hour's walking tour of the old part of the city. It was very interesting, we saw all the different squares in the city, the cathedral, the 'Sound of Music' fountain (where the children sang), also the monastery, and the house where Mozart was born and lived the early part of his life, although he is buried in 'Vienna.

Then we took the funicula up to the Hohensalburg Fortress, which sits high avove the city. We had lunch in an open air restaurant at the top, then wandered around the huge fortress and took in the stunning views on all sides.

My blip is of a detail on the fountain mentioned above.
