Sicily Day 1 - Poppies

We arrived at Scopello, in the north of Sicily in the dark, and when I got up at around 6am to visit the loo, I could not resist peaking out the door to see the view. I thought it was worth a shot before going back to bed! Hubby has blipped his view from the Villa.

We had chosen to visit in May in the hope of seeing the wild flowers and we were certainly not disappointed. It was so nice to see a Mediterranean country looking fresh and green rather than the parched look of summer. The weather was quite overcast on our first day, but actually ideal for photography. We took a trip out to San Vito lo Capo where we had a delicious lunch. All along the roadside we saw carpets of red poppies which looked amazing amongst the verdant landscapes.
