Scenes from everyday life

Walmer Snail

With the weather better than expected today, Clare and I drove down to Walmer Castle in Kent.

We refreshed our memories of the Duke of Wellington who died here in 1852 and about whom there is a small museum, ate a cream tea and enjoyed the gardens.

We narrowly escaped spending £1,600 on an impulse purchase of English Heritage life membership - the sales lady was very persuasive - which meant we could afford a takeaway when we got back to London.

A good day. This boot brush caught my eye.
