RSD Photo's SoCal Life

Not In Kansas Anymore

It turned out that one of the volleyball venues was a block from the Acapulco beach, so my wife and I took advantage of a break (the playing schedule is very different this year, which makes us hopeful we will be off the court well before last year's midnight departure) to weak out the famous sands and see what was what. Obviously, as this photo shows, it is very different than anything to which we are accustomed. Very long and surrounded by high-rise hotels - it is as if four or five Ixtapa's were put end to end and curved into a bay shape. As with every Mexican beach, however, public access is guaranteed and we easily access the somewhat grainy sands, as did the thousands of people shown here, for a short stroll to a "beach club" for a beverage overlooking the water. Felt good to get away from constant volleyball and enjoy a cooling ocean breeze.
