Captain's Logbook

By CaptainSensible

Grey day, great day, this is London.

What a fab day.

Up early and in town by 8:30 am. Dropped Mr H at his biology A'level revision course near Oxford Street and headed off for some much needed black medicine in Carnaby Street. I visited Trafalgar Square to test run an experimental photograph I have in mind whilst Mrs W explored Liberties ( I need a new shirt and their classic prints are the same ones from the 1920's).

The top floor of Liberties is so beautiful - it's crying out for HDR treatment - that will have to wait for another visit (better prepared).

Then the Photographers Gallery where an exhibition by Lorna Simpson was truly inspiring. A conceptual/performative approach to image making, right up my street - fabulous for her retro female portraits. The regeneration exhibition was also really clever. Not an approach that would be blippable but an exercise I'm going to have a go at.

After lunch it was off to the David Bailey Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. More good ideas - that may take some time to put into action - but will be fun.

This pano was taken from the cafe at the top of the National Portrait gallery. Not much on its own but good practice for the series of high up pano's I have planned for this summer.

Then home for a chinese take away under the warm blanket and watch a film. A grey day but a great one.
