Meanwhile, in the north.....

Morning spent in Porty, standing on the prom with the girls, clapping on all the Marathon runners. At one point I thought we were stuck on the beach side for good, but, thankfully, there was a slight lull at one point so we made a run for it and managed to get to the other side without taking out any runners in the process.

We then said our goodbyes to the SBG, grabbed some food, filled the car, and started on our flying visit to Oban. Not much flying to be had as it took us over an hour to get out of Edinburgh, due to Marathon traffic, Bank Holiday folk and monsoon style rain. And then we got stuck behind several ridiculously slow drivers, who made our journey slightly longer than anticipated.

It wasnt all bad - it meant I could enjoy the scenery at a slower pace. I even spotted a baby deer in the tall grass of a field beside the road.

A wander up to McCaig's Tower gave us some great views across the bay, followed by a walk around the town and a couple of beers.

On a clear evening, it is a beautiful place.....
