The Kookaburra Queen

May Challenge by Anniemay and MollyMay word for today - MERRY

The Kookaburra Song, written by Marion Sinclair in 1932
Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree,
Eating all the gum drops he can see.
Stop Kookaburra, stop Kookaburra
Save some there for me!

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree,
Counting all the monkeys he can see.
Laugh Kookaburra, laugh Kookaburra
That's not a monkey, that's me!

I would have loved to blip a 'merry king of the bush' kookaburra for today's challenge, but that wasn't to be. We hear them from time to time but rarely see them. Today we drove down to Brisbane on business and had lunch in a cafe by the river. Moored not far from the cafe was this lovely three tiered paddle steamer called the Kookaburra Queen which can be booked for river cruises, weddings, parties etc. I imagine there have been many merry people enjoying memorable, merry occasions on board her.

Brisbane is a two hour drive from where we live and our nearest big city.
