Beach

14.8C with long sunny spells. Light breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk after lunch. We walked down the bridle path to the shore and went down to the beach. The tide was on its way in. We took our time today and wandered along towards Easthaven before turning at the burn and walking back along the firm sand to Westhaven.

Just as we reached the fishermens huts a man came down onto the beach with a Spaniel. A Cocker/Springer cross he told me. A very happy little dog with a very waggly tail. Maeve and the Spaniel ran around together for a few minutes and they both managed to run into the sea. Maeve looked very surprised and made sure she didn't go back in. She was soon back at my side. I think it is a sign of her starting to get old that she doesn't play for as long as she used to.

We might have our footpath works done tomorrow. Vehicles arrived this afternoon and two men cut the pavement at one side of our driveway and at the opposite side of our neighbours driveway ready for tarmac removal. Of course they will be removing the new strip of tarmac that was laid recently when the lamp posts were upgraded. No sense at all in planning the work so that it is all done at the same time to save upheaval and money and waste going into landfill.

When I saw them make the cuts at 2.30pm I thought it might be finished today ...

... then they all packed up and were gone by 3pm leaving assorted vehicles, barriers, a pile of hardcore, and a trailer on the open grass area nearby !
