A slice of Lesley's life

Running down that hill...

To the 13th century pub at the end of an 8k walk. This picture is not representative of the walk at all. It doesn't show you the mud, hills, brambles and cows the city kids had to cope with. It doesn't show you them desperately trying to hail a taxi. Or the sweet incentive system - 1 sweet at mile one, 2 sweets at mile two, etc (we are a confused family working in metric and imperial). It doesn't show the falling in mud (Anna) or the father son race up the hill (no prizes for guessing who won) or the general, oh my god how can you do this to us-ness. But of course by this point with a big run down a hill and the satisfaction of knowing the hard work is all behind you and there is only a pub lunch in your future all was joy.

Lunch was well earned and well delivered at the excellent The Dirty Habit.

Then back for our final visit to the castle, a real archery lesson and a hilarious pantomime-esque jousting tournament.

Exhausting but wonderful day,
Lesley x

EDIT: reminders for self...

3 pilgrim tales:
Bella the Magical / Amazon Princess
Derek the Pilgrim Mouse
Bob the Guinea Pig and the Tour de France

J worked out if Chaucer's Pilgrims had used our incentive method they would have needed 2,485 sweets each.
