Hidden gem

Today walking back from town I took a little detour to see St Botolph's Priory.

St Botolph's was the first Augustinian monastery in England. The priory of St Julian and St Botolph at Colchester was founded in 1103. The surviving walls date from the middle 12th century. Although the priory was closed in 1536, there is still an active church on the site today.
