End of the Line

Taken at the end of the rail line leading into the extermination camp at Auschwitz Birkenau, with the main gate in the background.

This is the end of the railway line that brought so many to the end of their lives, to be tortured and tormented - worked to death or subjected to medical experimentation by the vile Doctor Mengele - if not murdered outright at the hands of the Nazis.

The doomed folk riding in the cars along this line, packed in like sardines, often had to pay their way with the Nazis more often than not charging them for their one-way ticket to hell.

A very sobering, thought provoking, awe inspiring, and to be frank; inexplicably guilt inducing experience, but I would recommend it.
