Kennington Tube Station, London

This was a station on the City & South London Railway, which was the first deep-level tube railway in the world, and is now the Bank Branch of the Northern Line.

The station was designed by Thomas Phillips (T.P.) Figgis in the Arts & Crafts style. The building is more or less unchanged since the day it opened in December 1890.

To cover the lift machinery, Phillips design the lead covered dome which became a main feature of the design.
