Inis Meain 2

A full day's exploration on foot. We visited a tiny little church nestling at the sea edge, full of flowers and flat gravestones jostling for space. We dropped into the Aran Knitwear shop and museum - some wonderful photos taken in the 1970s and some amazing knitwear, still made on the island - we saw them bleaching the jerseys in the sunshine. We passed the very exclusive hotel where guests are often helicoptered in, and wandered down to this remote and beautiful pebbly shore. We visited the church which had some stunning widows by Harry Clarke and pondered on some beds of saints where you were meant to lie down and spend the night in hope of a cure for your ailment. We paddled and made rock sculptures.
